Mishigou Fm
Type Locality and Naming
It was named by the Joint Research Team of Project “305” and published by Wang Wuyan in 1990. No type section was indicated. The reference secton is at Mishigou, Bostan Township, southwest of Toksun County, the Xinjiang Uygur Zizhiqu (Chen Xu et al, 1990).
Synonym: (米什沟组)
Lithology and Thickness
It is dominated by grayish brown, grayish green, thin- to thick-bedded sandstone, siltstone and silty slate with a conglomerate at the base.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It rests disconformably on the underlying different formations from the Ordovician to the Upper Sinian
Upper contact
It is conformably overlain by the Talebulak Fm.
Regional extent
The formation may be locally facies-changed into dark gray huge-bedded siliceous siltstone. Its thickness varies considerably and reaches 950 m at most. It is exposed in Mishigou, south of the Toksun County seat and at Tonggou, Usu County in central Tianshan Mts. area.

Fossils
Graptolite represent the characteristic fossil, namely being: Petalolithus tenuis, P. ovatoelongatus, Oktavites involutus, Pristiograptus, Pernerograptus, Monograptus drepanoformis,M. priodon, Streptograptus wimani, Spirograptus turriculatus, etc.
